sun day [10 Jul 2005|03:34pm] i am having the most wonderful afternoon playing with ram. i am sweaty, dirty, dusty and there should be nothing wrong with this thing because my computer runs with either lovely little stick, but won't run with both. motherboard manual says it doesn't matter which of the slots i insert them, but next i'm going to try some combinations! exciting! (if i disappear, i may have broken my computer.) 16:28 try #1: this went spectacularly wrong right away, giving me about an hour of NO HARD DISK DRIVE DETECTED messages. which is, like, WHAT? anyway, after a longish consultation, it turns out the sata cable was attached to the primary sata port, when it actually should have been attached to sata-1. which i don't understand because it's been attached to primary ever since i got this computer. raa. 17:00 try #2: everything works. for the moment. *shifty look* 14 hours| wait
